Mika Risku will be joining the Department of Educational Leadership Studies in the fall as our Practitioner-Scholar in Residence. Mika is currently the Associate Director of the Institute for Educational Leadership at the University of Jyväskylä in Finland and before that he was a middle school principal. The Finnish Ministry of Education is sponsoring his visit from Oct. 14 - Dec. 16, 2009.
Mika will be joining and instructing some of our classes for the fall term and will also be engaging in research to prepare for a Finnish national study of principals and teacher leadership programs. This new work is following on the heels of the 2009 publication of the National Study of the Superintendency in Finland (cite: Karnervio, P. & Risku, M. (2009). Tutkimus kuntien yleissistävän koulutukusen opetsstoimen johtamisen tilasta ja muutoksista Soumessa).
Watch for more information as he arrives.
