The Kentucky Principal's Test (sometimes referred to as the law test) is a mandatory assessment that all new principals must pass before certification is complete. The assessment is offered both online and in paper and pencil format. There is an online study guide for both formats. More information on the KYPT can be found here. The SLLA is a national test written by the Education Testing Service that Kentucky has adopted by regulation. Thus, all new principals must pass the SLLA before obtaining certification and serving as school leaders.

In 2009, ETS made substantial changes to the SLLA. The changes to the SLLA are detailed below and will take effect in September of 2009 in Kentucky. The testing dates for the new SLLA have not been determined yet, but we will update when EPSB sends those dates.
